New Feature: Cleaner Search Results with Variants

This week we released a new search feature we’re calling Variants to help customers find the right assets more easily.

Many artists publish the same asset in multiple file formats or slight appearance shifts, which can result in search results showing several nearly identical listings. While offering multiple variations is valuable, displaying each one individually can make search feel repetitive and cluttered.

Customers will now be able to see when a model was uploaded separately in additional formats.

With Variants, similar versions of the same asset will be grouped together in search results. Customers will still be able to access the different available formats, but they’ll see a cleaner, more streamlined search experience with less duplication. Moreso, we believe this will help customers see more content by the same artist who created them increasing the chance of multiple assets being purchased.

Clicking on the Cinema 4D link will open a new window and bring customers to that model.

This is the first step in improving how duplicate assets are handled across the marketplace.

What’s next?

  • This week: Variants will begin rolling out in search results for all customers.
  • Shortly after: We’ll release an update in the Publisher with more details about how Variants work. Including messaging during the publishing process to notify artists when we detect they’re uploading an asset that’s a duplicate of one they’ve already published.

Our goal is to make search easier for customers while helping artists manage their catalogs more effectively. We’ll continue refining this experience based on feedback after launch.
